Maharashtra Elections - Some figures
Maharashtra 2014 elections
Constituencies: 48
Total number of voters: 7.89 crore
Women voters: 4.18 crore
Men voters: 3.71 crore
Youth (18-40 years): 5.3 crore
Youth (18-19 years): 11 lakh
As per the data shown above only 1.4 % voters are in the 18-19 years age bracket whereas all over India average of the same is 2.88. Some of the possible reasons for such a low percentage can be ignorance on part of new voters, tedious process of registration for voting. Though it is not mentioned in the article in DNA but women voters form 53% of voting population as per the above figures, it will be interesting to know the national average of the same.
